Micro nutrient Management for Sustaining Major Cropping System and Fruit Orchards: Citrus and Mango Fruits (Punjab)

Objectives

  • Micro nutrient indexing of the target fruit orchards by sampling and analyzing plant parts at recommended growth stages, and associated soils. Major target geographical regions will be: citrus, sargodha and Toba Tek Singh areas; mango, Multan and Rahim Yar Khan areas
  • Mapping spatial variability of micro nutrient status in the target fruit plants and associated soils. This mapping, using micro nutrient indexing data and geostatistics, will help delineate the deficient areas for each fruit region
  • Study fruit crop response to application of micro nutrients
  • Field experiments will help determine comparative effectiveness of micro nutrients application on fruit yield, fruit quality and micro nutrient status of fruit plants and associated soils

Development of Digitized Profile of Land for Agriculture in the Punjab Province

  • Development of Spatial Database for soil-climate suitability for crops, vegetables and fruits

Establishment of Provincial Reference Fertilizer Testing Laboratory at Lahore

Objectives

  • To conduct the analysis of disputed fertilizer samples referred to the lab
  • To conduct analysis of samples of fertilizers, enzymes and growth regulators referred to the lab for the purpose of registration
  • To render technical advice regarding test methodology, composition, standardization and registration etc. of fertilizer products
  • Supervise inter lab comparison to verify the competence of fertilizer testing laboratories
  • Standardize new techniques of fertilizers, organic compounds and enzyme products
  • To coordinate with National and International fertilizer analytical labs of private and public sector

Establishment of Soil and Water Testing Laboratories at Chiniot and Nankana Sahib

Objectives

  • To evaluate the fertility status of soils in the districts of Chiniot and Nankana Sahib, and to assess nutrient requirements of different crops to obtain the optimum yields
  • To diagnose the nature and extent of salinity / sodicity hazard and suggest necessary measures for their control
  • To monitor the quality of irrigation water and advise on its management and efficient use in crop production
